Hocus Pocus is a British bred Dutch Warmblood (KWPN) born in 2012 and is an Anglo European Studbook (AES) Approved stallion. His sire is Team Nijhof’s showjumping stallion Zambesi, out of the famous Heartbreaker. His Dam’s pedigree also boasts top stallions like Vancouver, Silvio I and Concorde and he is without doubt bred from exemplary bloodlines. His whole pedigree is of the highest standard containing top stallions from all disciplines throughout the generations.


He stands at 16.2hh and is an eyecatching chestnut with four white stockings and a white blaze. He has superb conformation and paces, an athletic and powerful jump, together with a laid back nature in the stable and fantastic attitude to his work.

Hocus Pocus was the highest placed show jumping horse at the British Breeding Futurity Evaluation 2015. He achieved an elite score of 9.13 making him the highest placed British bred 3 year old in the country, consequently winning the BEF 3 Year Old Futurity Award 2015 and qualifying him for the prestigious Equine Bridge Pathway in 2016.

He was bred and is ridden by, Joseph Hughes-Jones. Hocus Pocus started his showjumping carer in the summer of 2016 and has since moved up through the age classes, now competing and being placed at national and international level up to 1.30m.

His first offspring were born in 2017 so none are under saddle as yet, but we can definitely say that he passes his markings and superb temperament onto them.
Spellbound, a chestnut filly was put forward for the Youngstock grading as a foal with the AES and was awarded a grade 2.
Houdini, a chestnut colt was sold as a foal to Holland due to his outstanding bloodlines.

Hocus Pocus is a walk in stallion with Stallion AI Services. This means he is not based at the stud. So when fresh or chilled semen is needed it has to be planned around his competition schedule and then his transport to stud arranged.


If you are wanting to use him please let us know before your vet sees your mare for the first time. This will then allow us to let you know when Hocus Pocus is available to go to stud for collecting. The best way to let us know that you are interested in using him is by filling in a mare nomination form that can be found on our website.

​What we don't what to happen is for you to call / email us for the first time, say that you want to use Hocus Pocus and your mare is ready for semen in a couple of days, and then we have to say you can't use him as he is away at a show.
